A deep dive into mixed media with all of Kellee's favorite techniques: Gelli plate printing, stamp carving, collage, bookmaking, texture and layers and layers of paint. Get lost in nature and see how to incorporate the season into your artwork in this easy to follow, playful course filled with ideas to last you all year. If you liked The Layered Page, you will love Mixed Media Explorations!
Courses Include:
Mixed Media Techniques - A module dedicated to the foundation of making your own elements with how I love to prepare my papers, Gelli printing basics, stamp carving and exploring your signature marks through a series of exercises designed to free you from expectation. The stamp carving lesson alone is 45 minutes of detailed instructions!
Freedom to Play - Like a child again working intently for hours to just discover what is possible. In this lesson we really get into the Gelli printing and you won't want to stop. What are the possibilities? How can you incorporate nature? What marks can you make? Now what do we do with all these prints? Let's create some beautiful nature themed collage teabag and book pages!
Exploring Texture - On a hunt for the best textures in nature, let's convert those ideas into texture using our art supplies. Don't give it much thought as you whip out these earthy layered pieces. Finish by creating collages out of your Gelli prints and stamp carvings.
Line and Shape - I love keeping it simple as much as I love exploring all the rich layers. In this lesson we practice some foundation ideas inspired by potted house plants. Good thing we have another excuse to use up our Gelli Prints again!
Concertina Art Journal - This one should be a lesson all on its own! Start big and free and then add more layers until you have soft, flexible paper that can be torn and folded and turned into an accordion art journal. This lesson was first seen as a guest lesson for Get Messy Art Journal Membership in 2018.
In addition to your course, the Studio Courses site grants you automatic access to 2 additional free courses.
Wynne (said win) is my middle name. I'm a redhead, I married a redhead and we have three redhead boys. It's never quiet around here! Art is my outlet and passion in the midst of a wild life. It centers me and brings me peace. I am so fortunate for this gift and I honor it with gratitude in every brushstroke.
A little back story - My childhood was all about running through sculpture gardens and playing in the neighbors' art studios....what was this wonderland? It's undeniable that my upbringing, while somewhat unusual, left me with a strong impression that we can live the life of our dreams through art. That there is magic inherent in living a creative life. My true purpose is to bring that magic back and share it with those who are longing to realize their creative purpose.
While I have had a lot of opportunities to exhibit with local and national galleries, working with emerging artists was what led me to finally fulfill my vision of an art education program. 2017 brought the birth of the True Colors Art Program, a thriving, internationally followed online community of color loving artists. It is through this program that I have been able to connect with the hearts and souls of artists around the world, discovering that teaching my love of color and paint is my true calling.
*lifetime access means for as long as the site, Studio Courses with Kellee Wynne, stays in business.
